You can see I start out with fairly realistic sketches. I usually do when I'm referencing a real creature. This time around I think I'd like my Ripple cards to be lighthearted, so they'll be transformed into my usual cartoon style once I have their personalities figured out a little more.
This guy definitely has my attention:
looking good! You are a champ, still drawing even with a very little one at home :)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I do when drawing animals, I like to start out with reference and develop the character from there. I love seeing that process in your sketches here. And writing out lists for sure! Brainstorms are about lists too! I can't wait to see this guy all painted up. He's definitely talking to us :o)
ReplyDeleteLove your progression from researching, to realistic sketching to fun personalities shining through!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you love lists, too. I believe you are in very good company.
Thanks for sharing!
Lack of sleep can make one a little crabby. crabby? --get it? hee hee. I can't wait to see it done. The jelly fish on your website banner- makes me laugh. -I hope you are sleeping too.
ReplyDeleteYour work has so much personality! I love the sea-themed items on your portfolio too.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! No worries, this is a preplanned post. :) We're getting as much sleep as possible nowadays.
