When I was a kid I was obsessed with drawing pigs and I have always been obsessed with pancakes. It looks like there is bacon on one of the plates, tho, so I don't think I thought this one all the way through when I drew it so many years ago... Field Trip

I'm including this as a sketch because I drew it rather quickly for a recent storytelling & bookmaking field trip at The Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute. This was my 20th time volunteering as a field trip illustrator! The kids come up with the silliest stories, it is the most fun!

I really enjoy hand lettering things and would like to do more of it. This is from a piece from The Frog Prince that I just finished painting last night, back when I was first transferring the sketch to my watercolor paper. I used my favorite font, Georgia, for the text in my illustration.

Drawing hands is not easy. I drew this, erased it, re-drew it, and so on for quite a long time before I got it the way I liked it. Bicycles are also very hard to draw. Luckily, this was not a picture of a hand pointing to a bicycle. That would have been horrible.

I was recently at a vet tech convention to get CE credits so I can keep up my certification. One of the lectures I attended was peppered with photos of cute dogs that were up on screen ever so briefly. This forlorn dachshund was the most gorgeous copper color.
