Oh- it's still there, it informs everything I draw. This topic especially- how can you not think of their version?- it is iconic. I was angry at Tim Burton for what he did to Alice..I still am- but did he do anything wrong? No- he did his version. I like to see Alice - less dark... more nonsense. So I thought about it being as if I was the character- the world would be from my imagination. I do the same thing- and fall in love with my first drawing. This is so scribbly- cause I have erased and erased. Pushing ourselves is a luxury that needs some time to be able to expand. I hear ya. I have a bit more than I used to- but not enough yet. I hate to with away time with my daughter- so if she needs me- pencil down. Such is the life of a Mom. - But I do think our creativity grows with every moment we spend with them - so consider it building a stock room of ideas.

Thanks everyone - I am happy with this sketch. Your feedback makes me happy too!Kelly Lighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14838318116529188866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895533698068962658.post-24307197350415705402012-03-24T12:41:25.966-05:002012-03-24T12:41:25.966-05:00I love what you've done with this topic, Kelly...I love what you've done with this topic, Kelly. Yes, you need to finish it! I really like the thought you've put into the characters and especially Alice! Bark hair!! And that sailor outfit is perfect. Too often I get caught up in keeping the Disney versions of things in my mind. These are so fresh and original. I can't wait to see what you do!

Thanks for the kind words on my post. I like the rabbit, but would definitely make some changes on my composition and on Alice's pose. I tend to do the first thing that comes to mind sometimes instead of exploring. Mostly because I don't get the time :o/.Joy Steuerwaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04605581390238670574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895533698068962658.post-54312351503586992292012-03-24T09:57:00.718-05:002012-03-24T09:57:00.718-05:00How can you not finish it?! I was more than a little excited by your suggestion and eager to see what you'd come up with! I love that I see YOU all in this piece. So authentic, and so lovely. And goodness yes, you most definitely need to take this to color.
