Cats and Pugs and Legs, Oh My!

Last night we were all watching tv together and I was sketching the pets. The pugs were relatively still but the cat moved a bunch, it was really fun to try to capture him on paper. Cats are fascinating to me because they can be liquid and angular at the same time. Their ears are extremely expressive and hard to see sometimes (especially when the cat is mostly black and tucks in his chin toward his chest). Threw my kid's leg in there for good measure. The sketchbook I'm using is Drawing is Magic by John Hendrix. John is insanely talented and his sketchbook has been really fun so far! It was recommended to me by our own Andi Butler, and I heartily second that recommendation! Happy drawing!

Wet Paint

We are planning to paint our house this summer, so I planned to draw a can of paint and paintbrush but somehow ended up with a kitten instead.

Dancing Doodle

Sometimes we dance through life mentally, rather than physically ~ especially when we are filled with appreciation for treasured people in our lives.

Queen Anne's Lace

Here in the summer Queen Anne's lace, daylilies and chicory grow wild along the roads and country fields - they always make me want to slow down and soak up all the goodness of summer. Thinking of working these up into a block print.

3rd of July

Tonight we went to see some fireworks and I just had to sketch an adorable little girl who was walking along with little light up reflective star antennae on her head. Such a little cutie!

Happy 4th of July!

A messy little sketch to celebrate the 4th of July! Watching the fireworks on the beach is the epitome of summer in my touristy little town on Lake Michigan.
