Camping - Lost sketch-Kelly

I drew a SMOREMAN attacking D's kids. D's first "Fan Art". Photo Shop locked up- and kablooey... no more smoreman.
So- I doodled this super fast. I get eatin' alive by mosquitos. I'd need a personal mosquito net to enter the woods.

Diandra-Camping

This week's theme fit in perfectly with mu current WIP! These two are a quick value sketch, and are part of a much larger forest scene I'm experimenting with in Photoshop. I'm putting in the values in first, then laying a transparent color on top. I'm tentatively liking the results so far. Any idea what they're looking at?

"Tickled Pink"

I've got my baby boy on my brain, so here is one of him "tickled pink" about one of his favorite toys! It never fails, if he's upset or crying we just pull out "yellow dog" and shake him about and the kid starts smiling and laughing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Tickled Pink with Heather

This is a watercolor sketch from a few months ago.  I just spent 24 hours on the road driving home from an extended early summer vacation.  I'm feeling all sorts of post-vacation blues today - so this is a nice jolt of color to pick me up!

Are you tickled pink or singing the blues today?
Or yella' bellied
or green around the edges
or green with envy
Or maybe you are white as a ghost looking at your to-do list
or chasing rainbows as you dream impossible dreams!

PINK - has gone to the dogs. Kelly

Head is in a strange place today.
I do think the dyed dogs look pretty p-o'd, don't you?
Happy weekend at The Sketchables! Priscilla and I get to see each other! Have a good one!

Diandra-Pink

This was supposed to be a simple sketch featuring a sweet moment, but as often happens when I'm developing a backstory for an image, the rest of the story demanded to be told!

Chivalry never goes out of style. ;)

Priscilla ~ A Fun Week of Pink!

Did you know that National Pink Day is June 23rd?  Perhaps slightly unofficial ~ yet a fun reason to bring PINK to you throughout this first week of summer!

Hope your week is

The "joy" of Father's Day!

This is my wonderful husband's first father's day. He's such an amazing dad I'm in awe. He's so patient and sweet and takes such good care of our boy. I'm so glad we decided to have a child, it took us long enough to come around! If my boy grows up to be anything like his father, I'll be so proud. Notice how the husband can "multi-task" with the iPhone in hand, t-hee.

I hope everyone can take a moment to thank their father's for all they've done for them and just tell them how much you love and appreciate them!

Happy Father's Day!

Dad- The best seat in the house!-Kelly

I remember riding high on my Dad's shoulders as a little girl. Probably the only time in my life I was not afraid of heights. I was in good hands. Happy Father's Day to my own Dear Dad and to my husband and to all of the Dad's out there with tired, sweaty shoulders!

Guest Nina Crittenden-Father's Day

Of all the Dads in the Animal Kingdom, the humble Seahorse is really a stand-out when it comes to being an involved father. He carries the kids in a pouch until they are born, and then makes sure they get to all of their playdates, soccer practices, and piano lessons! Outstanding! Happy Father's Day!!!

(Thanks so much, Nina! You can see more of Nina's sweet and funny work at her blog here!)

Priscilla ~ Father's Day Week!

Looking ahead to Father's Day on Sunday, June 19th, we begin our celebration today!
Frankly, this sketch prompted me to search for a yummy cookie recipe to try out, and I was delighted to find this "Father's Day Chocolate Chip Cookie" recipe!                                                                      (can't wait to find out just how yummy they are!)

BFF'S Forever

11 years old. 5th grade dance. Before boy crazy completely sets in and goofiness gets packed up with the barbie dolls. 11 is when you have a best friend. That girl is the person you just HAVE to talk to about every single thing that happens to you. I miss that time.

This is the scene in my house tomorrow. Dresses have been picked out and sleeping backs packed for the after party. Have to stay up all night giggling over the evening's events.

Well- Messy sketch, sorry so late today...

Guest Michelle Henninger-Friends

A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Friends truly are a gift: the friends who've been through it all with you, the friends who you only know from FB/Twitter, the friends you know only by a smile on the street.  It's these amazing people that make life so beautiful.  They share your joys, your sorrows, your addictions (tea, chocolate, books, anyone?).  So, for Friends Week I'd like to send out a big thank you to The Sketchables for letting me guest sketch on their amazing blog!  And to you, my friends, thanks for making my life so beautiful.
(Thanks, Michelle! You can see more of Michelle's work here.)

The "joy" of Memorial Day

A time to give thanks and reflect on those who've protected and served, preserving our freedoms.

Thank you!

Guest- Katherine Blackmore waves the Flag!

My home town has a simple, patriotic Memorial Day Parade every year. My parents timed it once -  17 minutes: plenty of time for our Mayor to toss candy, the Veterans to wave and wipe a tear, the high school band to play, and the girl scouts to march. And the fire truck bringing up the rear came complete with a dalmatian. It was (and is) a sweet time to celebrate freedom and remember those who fell defending it.

"I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me..."

Thank you to The Sketchables! for this opportunity to remember... Kathy B.
